Bus syndicate calls off strike after assurance from Suvendu

Kolkata: The bus strike that was called by Joint Council of Bus Syndicate on February 1 and 2 demanding a fare hike, was called off on Tuesday.
The Council held a meeting with state Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari and some senior officials of the department, where the minister assured them that a committee is being constituted to cater to their demand.
It may be mentioned that the 2 member committee that will evaluate the demands of the transport operators, has Narayan Swarup Nigam, Secretary Transport department as the chairman and Biswajit Dutta, Commissioner, Transport department as the member. The minister has thanked the transport operators for their cooperation and withdrawing their strike.
