Budget session to start from today

Kolkata: The budget session of the state legislative assembly will begin from Tuesday with Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi's speech.
The most noticeable aspect of the budget session will be the presentation of the state budget a day in advance to that of the union budget.
State Finance and Industry minister Amit Mitra will present the state budget on January 31, Wednesday at 3 pm.
It may be mentioned that this is perhaps for the first time when the state budget will be presented a day in advance to that of the
union budget.
The union budget will be presented on February 1 by union Finance minister Arun Jaitley.
A meeting of the Business Advisory (BA) Committee was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Speaker Biman Banerjee to decide the schedule .
It may be mentioned that the BA Committee that met on Thursday afternoon had earlier decided that the state budget would also be presented on February 1.
This is for the first time when the state budget will be presented on the day of the obituary. Usually, the House gets adjourned for the entire day after obituary. On Wednesday, the obituary will be in the first half while the budget will be in the second half at 3 pm," a source in the assembly said.
It may be mentioned that the budget session of the state Assembly which is scheduled to be held till February 8 will have discussions on the Governor's speech and then on the state budget.
As per the current schedule, there is no Bill to be tabled in the state assembly.
"The Opposition has, however, started their politics of non co-operation and were not present at the all party meeting that was held on Thursday," a senior Trinamool MLA said.
