Boy threatens to commit suicide after being scolded by father

Kolkata: Police were sent into a tizzy when a 16-year-old boy climbed up the parapet of his three-storeyed house after being scolded by his father. The incident happened at Dum Dum. Police said that the boy, Ankit Singh, will be appearing for Madhyamik examinations this year.
Police came to know from local people that his father was suffering from pain in his teeth and he had asked Ankit to take him to a doctor.
Ankit wanted to take his father to the doctor on his motorbike. But his father denied as Ankit didn't have a driving license. However, the boy was adamant on taking his father on his motorbike and it made his father angry. As a result, he was scolded and slapped by his father.
On Monday morning, all of a sudden, local people found him climbing the parapet of his three-storeyed house. He didn't pay heed to anyone's call and climbed up the building.
Initially, everyone thought that the boy was playing the infamous Blue Whale Game. They thought he was climbing up the building as being instructed by the game, as he had also carried his mobile phone along with him.
Later, they came to know the actual reason behind it and informed the police.
Policemen from the local police station and personnel of Fire and Emergency Services department rushed to the spot. Despite being requested repeatedly, the boy refused to come down. Instead, he had even threatened of committing suicide. It continued for around 6 hours till Monday evening.
A ladder was placed near him. But he tried to remove it from that place repeatedly, while sitting on the parapet.
Finally he came down in the evening, using the ladder. Hundreds of people gathered at the place to have a look at the boy sitting on a parapet. Police had to cordon off a portion of the road to carry out the operation to rescue the boy.
