Boy killed by mentally ill aunt while in sleep

In a tragic incident, an 8-year-old boy was hacked to death by his aunt who is mentally challenged and undergoing treatment. The incident triggered tension among the local people at Rajabagan.

Police have arrested the accused Jyotsna Bibi from the place of the incident and seized a sharp weapon which was used to commit the crime. Police said that the victim Rakib Molla (8) used to stay with his aunt at a room during night. The accused who was married to one Mehtab Molla of Pachpara Road had been staying with her elder brother, Abdul Malik Molla, who happens to be the father of the victim for quite sometime. She was undergoing treatment at Anatra Hospital at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas as she was suffering from some mental ailments.

Like other days, the boy went to sleep with his aunt at her room on Tuesday night. The family members of the boy heard him screaming and rushed to the spot to see him lying in a pool of blood on the bed with the aunt sitting by his side with a weapon in her hand. Police said that the accused slashed the victim's throat with the weapon that was smeared with blood. The family members and the local residents rushed the boy to the SSKM Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

After being informed, police reached the spot and arrested the accused. Senior officers of the homicide squad of the detective department started an investigation and collected samples from the room where the crime had taken place. The weapon that was used in the crime has also been seized by the police. Photographs of the room were also taken for the sake of investigation. Police have started a specific case on the basis of the statements of the boy's father. Police suspect that the boy's throat was cut when he was asleep.

Meanwhile, the cops are interrogating the accused to ascertain the cause behind the murder. Police are also investigating if the accused has committed the crime to take any revenge on the boy's family or she had become angry over certain reason and killed the boy.
