Bomb hoax triggers panic in airport

Kolkata: A bomb hoax led to panic at the second terminal of Kolkata Airport on Thursday afternoon. Some people saw a small box which is meant to keep spectacles, lying unclaimed in the area. Suspecting it to be a bomb, a section of people got alarmed.

The security personnel and police rushed to the spot after receiving information about it. They cleared the gathering. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Dog Squad reached the spot. However, nothing suspicious was found in the box and police took it away from the spot. The police suspect that the box had dropped from someone's bag by mistake.

In another incident, a foreign national was found carrying three bullets in her purse. The security personnel came to know that those bullets were gifted to her by one of her friends and she also had all valid documents in its support.

The woman, who was scheduled to take a flight to US via Doha, was allowed to go when she provided all the documents.

During checking at the airport, the security personnel found an alert of something suspicious in the woman's bag and three bullets were found when the bag was searched.
