Body with 'injury marks' found inside train

Kolkata: Tension prevailed at the Canning railway station early on Monday morning after a body was found from inside a compartment of Sonarpur-Canning local. It is suspected that the person has been murdered and was dumped inside the train.

According to sources, on Monday around 4:10 am, the Down Sonarpur-Canning local arrived at the Canning railway station.

While deboarding the train some passengers noticed a pair of legs could be seen under a seat in a vacant area inside a compartment.

When some of them went there, they saw a man aged around 50 years was lying and seemed to be dead.

Immediately Government Railway Police (GRP) outpost at the Canning station was informed.

Police went there and rushed the person to Canning Sub Divisional Hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.

Later, police sent it for autopsy examination.

Local sources informed that some injury marks could be seen on the body.

It is suspected that the person had been murdered. Police sources informed that the person looked like a vagabond to the sleuths.

Police are not suspecting any foul play but waiting for the autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case has been lodged at the Sonarpur GRP.

His identity could not be established till Monday night. Sleuths may lodge suo moto murder complaint if

autopsy report indicates that this is a murder and also if no relatives of the deceased is found.
