Body of woman found near Garia stn

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a middle-aged woman whose body was found near Garia station on Wednesday morning.

After preliminary investigation, police suspect that the woman was killed and later dumped at the spot when there was a power cut in the area. The power cut was due to thundershower on Tuesday.

Police came to know that the woman used to work at a factory in the area and her husband had passed away a few years ago.

Some locals saw the body when they went out for morning walk and informed the police. Policemen from the local police station went to the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. A police officer said they have initiated a probe and trying to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident.

The police are looking into all the aspects and also trying to know the time she had left her work place.

Cops would also speak to other workers of the factory to know whether the woman had any rivalry with anyone. They also spoke to the victim's son.

The police are also going through footages of surveillance cameras in the area.

A police officer said they are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the exact reason behind the woman's death.
