Board set to present marks percentile in transcripts

Kolkata: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is set to present marks in the form of a percentile to students who successfully crack the higher secondary examinations this year.
Currently, neither the mark-sheets nor the certificates show the percentile. The Council is planning to include it in the students' certificates from this year.
"We have found that a number of leading institutions across the country seek the percentile in mark-sheets and certificates. Most importantly, some companies also seek the same. A number of meritorious students pass the exam with high marks. It is an important factor for determining the eligibility in this age of competition.
"We want to ensure that they do not face any problems in seeking admission to institutes or getting jobs of their choice. So, we have decided to introduce percentile from this year," Mahua Das, president of WBCHSE said.
"We may also include it in mark-sheets. However, it has not yet been finalised," a senior official of the Council said.
Currently, the mark-sheets carry total marks, individual subject marks and the awarded grade.
