BMC mayor's public interaction step a hit

Kolkata: The first session of 'Apnar Ward E Apnar Mayor' (your Mayor in your ward), an initiative by the Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Krishna Chakraborty, was found to effective and successful. On Sunday, residents of Ward 23 and 24 met Krishna at Kalamandir in Keshtopur and raised their concerns and informed about their problems.

On Sunday, Chakraborty along with Deputy Mayor Tapas Chatterjee, Member, Mayor in Council (MMiC) Debraj Chakraborty, Pranay Kumar Ray, BMC Commissioner and other officials heard the grievances of local residents. Several residents pointed out the problems of waterlogging in the area and requested for necessary action. Krishna heard the grievances and assured the residents that BMC is taking necessary steps to solve their problems.

Mayor on Sunday alleged that huge number of constructions made in the area violated the norms of municipal corporation norms. BMC is checking the details of those constructions and trying to find a way to solve the problems and how those can be regularized after modification where possible.

Regarding the waterlogging problem, Krishna said: "To solve the waterlogging problem, BMC has already prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and work will be done as soon as possible."

She further said: "We are here to provide services to the people. To supply purified drinking water, pipelines have been laid. Soon supply of water will start." She also answered other questions regarding trade licence and other municipal services.
