Blame on BJP for attack on TMC polling agent's son

Balurghat: The son of a TMC polling agent was allegedly beaten up by some BJP activists after the polling ended in Banshihari on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Dilkanthi under Mahabari gram panchayat. Nabin Kabiraj (21), the son of Trinamool polling agent Narayan Kabiraj, was seriously injured in assault incident.

He was rushed to local Rashidpur health centre from where he was shifted to

Gangarampur sub-divisional hospital as his condition deteriorated. A police complaint was lodged but no one has been arrested so far. The local Trinamool polling agent, Narayan Kabiraj, had been appointed in booth no 197-198 for party candidate Arpita Ghosh. During voting BJP activists asked him to stay away from the booth but he didn't listen to them. After the polling ended Nabin was on his way back home when he was attacked by two BJP activists Bablu Singh and Paglu Mahato. It is alleged that they had beaten him mercilessly and left him on the road.

Local residents rushed him to a nearby health centre. His father was also being informed by them. A police complaint was lodged against Singh and Mahato. "It is my fault that I work as a TMC polling agent. My son was attacked by BJP workers. Mangal Mahato, who wanted to save my son from them was also attacked and thrashed. Local residents rescued both of them," said Narayan Kabiraj. "We have received complaint. The investigation is on. If anyone is found guilty, he will not be spared," said a police officer.
