BJP MLA assaulted at Gopalnagar

Kolkata: BJP MLA of Bongaon North Biswajit Das was allegedly assaulted by some miscreants on Friday at Gopalnagar Ghoshpara, when he was on his way to the Vidhan Sabha. Meanwhile, on the same day, a person lodged a complaint at the Gopalnagar police station against Das, alleging that he had taken money from him by promising a job for his son in the police department.

According to sources, on Friday morning when Das was crossing the Ghoshpara area, a few miscreants attacked his car with bamboo sticks and also pelted stones. As a result, Das received injury on his chest.

BJP workers tried to save Das and obstructed the attackers. Meanwhile, police from Gopalnagar police station arrived and brought the situation under control. Das was taken Bongaon Hospital for first aid.

Later, he lodged a complaint at Gopalnagar police station against the accused persons. After filing the complaint, Das was taken to a private hospital near Kadapara on Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass, where he is still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, soon after Das lodged the complaint, a person identified as Kanai Dan lodged a complaint against the BJP MLA, alleging that he had taken a huge amount of money from him by promising a job for Dan's son in the police.

According to Dan, his son Gourab got a job as Civic Volunteer (CV) after giving

Das a large sum. He had allegedly promised that Gourab would later get the job of police constable, which did not

happen.
