BJP leader shot at in East Burdwan

Kolkata: A BJP leader from Bhatar in East Burdwan was attacked by some unidentified miscreants.

The incident occurred on late Saturday night when the victim, Krishnakali Samanta, was sitting on the courtyard of his house. He sustained bullet injuries in his right leg when the miscreants opened fire at him. As he raised an alarm the accused fled from the spot. The family members of the victim rushed him to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, following the incident, which has triggered tension among the local residents. The district BJP leaders alleged that Trinamool Congress leaders in the area might have been involved behind the attack. The family members of the victim also alleged that Trinamool-backed goons had attacked the victim, as he has been instrumental in strengthening the party organisation in the Bhatar area.

District Trinamool leaders however have denied the allegation and termed the incident a result of infighting within BJP.
