Biswa Bangla brand not owned by Abhishek, clarifies Home Secy

Kolkata: State Home Secretary Atri Bhattacharya made it clear on Friday that the Biswa Bangla brand is a creation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the brand is registered in the name of the government of West Bengal.
Bhattacharya rubbished the allegations made by BJP leader Mukul Roy at a public rally on Friday that Biswa Bangla is a company owned by Trinamool Youth Congress national president Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of the Chief Minister and said: "Biswa Bangla does not have the copyright of any individual or company as the logo and brand of Biswa Bangla has been created by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who has given it to the Bengal government to use it in the interest of the state. It is registered in the name of the Government of West Bengal to be used in many capacities."
Though the Home Secretary did not clarify whether the government will take legal action for such baseless allegations, he said last week there was a misappropriation of the logo against which the government of West Bengal has initiated legal action.
Supporting the stand taken by the state government on this issue, Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee refuted allegations levelled by Roy. "These are baseless and blatant lies. Even his white file is just to create a hype and heat up the environment. We have seen numerous traitors who have been indulging in lies to defame the party," Chatterjee added.
