Birbhum BJP leaders raise voice against Manirul

Kolkata: Within a day after Trinamool Congress MP from Labhpur Manirul Islam joined BJP, local BJP leaders in Birbhum have threatened to launch a movement against his induction.

Kalosona Mondol, BJP secretary in Birbhum, said Islam's induction was done keeping them in the dark. "We are ready to face any consequence but we will not accept the Central party's decision," Mondol said.

He alleged that the killing of Tapas Bagdi by Trinamool Congress is fresh in their minds and it was people like Islam who had led Trinamool Congress in Birbhum then.

Islam, who was the vice-chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Limited, had distanced himself from Trinamool Congress for quite some time and got in touch with Mukul Roy.

Mondol said the local unit of the party should have been consulted before inducting him. "We will not obey him and we will accept any punishment given to us by the Central party," he added.

Meanwhile, the state unit of RSS has taken a strong exception to Anupam Hazra who recently joined BJP from Trinamool Congress and was a candidate for the Jadavpur Lok Sabha seat, for posting a picture with former Trinamool Congress MP Moon Moon Sen, on social media.

"Earlier, he had posted a picture with Anubrata Mondol and now he has done the same with Moon Moon Sen. This is uncalled for," said a leader of the state unit of RSS.

Meanwhile, BJP supporters in Bhatpara, Naihati, Jagaddal and Kakinara have raised voice against the state BJP leadership for inducting leaders who joined the party from Trinamool Congress. These leaders had unleashed a reign of terror in these areas and now the party's rank and file will be forced to obey them, the apprehension of which has made the BJP leaders speak up.
