Biker attacks constable in Baruipur

Kolkata: A police constable was heckled by a biker after he protested against the latter for abusing an elderly van rickshaw puller.
The incident took place in Baruipur in South 24-Parganas on Monday night.
According to police, like other days the victim Swapan Haldar, a police constable was discharging his duty at Padmapukur More in Baruipur on Monday night when the accused along with another woman were riding a motorcycle.
They were going towards the Padmapukur More from Bypass side. The bike was suddenly hit by a van rickshaw. Following the incident, the youth who was riding the bike became abusive towards the elderly van rickshaw puller.
A quarrel also broke out between the duo. The elderly man sought help from the police constable who was standing at a distance.
As a result, Haldar rushed to the spot and tried to dissuade the accused from hurling abusive language at the van rickshaw puller.
This led to an altercation between the police and the biker. The accused biker suddenly became agitated and attacked the constable.
It was learnt that the woman who was riding pillion fell off the bike when the accused tried to put the bike on stand. The woman also receive
d injuries on her head. Both the woman and the victim police constable were admitted to a hospital for treatment.
