Bharati Ghosh's husband fails to turn up at CID office

Kolkata: Former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh's husband failed to turn up at the CID headquarters due to health issues. He was summoned by the investigating agency for questioning in connection with the Daspur case in which allegations of cheating after accepting gold had cropped up.
This comes at a time when once again, the CID conducted raids at Ghosh's Madurdaha residence on Wednesday. It may be recalled that it was the same place from where Rs 2.4 lakh was seized on Tuesday.
The CID had conducted raids in Ghosh's residences and her close associates at different places since Friday and seized several documents besides cash and jewellery.
Subsequently, the investigating agency summoned MAV Raju, husband of the former IPS officer. He, however, didn't turn up at the CID headquarters at Bhawani Bhavan. His lawyer went to the CID's office and informed the investigating officers about his ailment and cited it to be the reason behind his failure to turn up.
It is learnt that his lawyer informed the concerned CID officer that he is suffering from heart ailment.
The notice summoning him was served on Monday. CID officers went to the Naktala residence of Ghosh and served the notice.
In the evening, the CID officers went to her Madurdaha residence and once again carried out searches.
The entire search operation has been videographed. It may be recalled that during a search operation before the notice was served, Rs 60 lakh was seized.
Again on Tuesday, the CID officers had seized Rs 2.4 lakh. So far, the investigating officers have seized Rs 3 lakh, gold weighing a few kilograms and several documents related to various properties and plots.
