Bhadreswar OC taken off from active duty

Kolkata: The Officer-in-Charge of Bhadreswar police station has been closed, which means that he has been taken off from active duty.
This comes within a few days of the murder of chairman of Bhadreswar Municipality Manoj Upadhyay who was shot dead when he was returning home riding pillion.
Anudhruti Majumdar was the Officer-in-Charge of the police station. It may be mentioned that the role of the police station had come under scanner as soon after the murder of Upadhyay no steps were taken despite confirmed information lying with the cops that Upadhyay was getting life threats.
Nandan Panigrahi has taken up the responsibility as the new Officer-in-Charge of Bhadreswar police station replacing Majumdar.
It may be mentioned that the officer of Telenipara Out Post, Pradip Das, has also been removed on Saturday.
It was on Friday that the commissioner of Chandannagar Commissionerate was changed. Replacing Peeysh Pandey, Ajoy Kumar has already taken over the charge.
This comes at the time when the Trinamool Congress once again attacked the BJP against its "politics of killing" from a programme of the party held at Gorkha Ground at Chinsurah in Hooghly on Sunday.
Senior leader of the party Aroop Biswas and the party's district president Tapan Dasgupta, who is also the state Agriculture Marketing minister, attacked the Narendra Modi government for its anti-people moves. Biswas said the present government in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is carrying out massive development works all across the state and the common people of the state are rendering unconditional support to her.
Dasgupta too slammed the BJP stating that it has been said that Upadhyay might have wished to join the party. "All these are nothing but false claims," said Dasgupta, maintaining that workers of his party will protest in case any leadership of the BJP visits Hooghly for any political rally.
