Bengal Govt hikes wage for tea garden workers

Kolkata: A tripartite meeting between the West Bengal Government, the managements of tea gardens and trade unions has settled for a hike in the daily wages of tea garden workers by Rs 17.50.
The revised daily wages will now be hiked from Rs 132.50 to Rs 150.
The talks were held at Uttarkanya, the mini Secretariat in Jalpaiguri.
Now the State Government is also distributing 35 kg of foodgrain per worker under the Khadya Sathi Scheme.
