Bengal gets 2nd AYUSH hospital at Midnapore town

Kolkata: Bengal's second dedicated AYUSH hospital has come up at Midnapore town with both indoor and outdoor facilities at the cost of Rs 15 crore and the hospital is ready for inauguration.

This is a 50-bedded integrated hospital dedicated to AYUSH, which will cater to a large number of patients mainly from the districts such as West Midnapore, East Midnapore and Jhargram. This is the second AYUSH hospital. Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani and Homeopathy medications will be available at the hospital in West Midnapore. Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the first 50-bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital in Alipurduar. Banerjee had laid emphasis on the building of infrastructure in AYUSH and asked health department officials to revamp health infrastructure in the state. A separate department had been formed to accelerate various AYUSH projects.

The project has come up under the National Ayush Mission. The state government has spent Rs crore while the Centre has given Rs 9 crore for the construction of the AYUSH Hospital. The new hospital that has come up on a few acres is on the verge of completion and it will be inaugurated soon, a senior health department official said. Doctors from the state and outside with expertise in the field will be invited to serve patients. The construction work began after December 4 in 2017. Senior AYUSH department officials will conduct awareness campaigns in various parts of West Midnapore and adjoining districts of Jhargram and East Midnapore to sensitize people about Ayurveda.
