Bengal celebrates Manna Dey on his 98th birthday

Legendary singer, Manna Dey, whose melodious voice has enthralled every listener during his days, is remembered by Bengal on his 98th birth anniversary.

Various socio-cultural institutes celebrated Dey by organising different programmes across the state. Moreover, many local television channels aired various programmes to pay tribute to the evergreen artist.

His proficiency in music over the years led him to earn various prestigious awards including Padmashree, Padmabhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke award, multiple National Awards, Padmabhushan, among others.

In a career spanning 50 years, this iconic singer sang more than 4,000 songs in Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, Malayalam and Kannada.

Manna Dey had breathed his last on October 24, 2013 in Bengaluru.
