Beliaghata daylight robbery: Accused nabbed

Kolkata: Sleuths investigating the daring daylight robbery at Beliaghata on Tuesday identified the accused, courtesy his peculiar walking pattern that came to light in a CCTV footage at a little distance away from the spot of crime.
"We have arrested Noor Islam from a hide-out at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas on Thursday night on the basis of a source information. The cash and jewelry that was looted from the house has also been recovered," Debasmita Das, deputy commissioner (Eastern Suburban Division) said.
It is learnt that the police showed the photograph (backside view) of the accused to some of its criminal sources and they provided some leads that finally led to the arrest within 48 hours of the crime. "The description provided by the 10-year-old girl was also very handy as we managed to create the portrait parle of the accused and the description of the dress that he was wearing was also accurately given by her," an officer said.
The sleuths, however, used tower dumping technology to track the accused in Baruipur and accordingly conducted the raid on Thursday night.
Noor had barged into a house at Chaulpatty Road in Beleghata and tied the hands and gagged a 10-year-old girl and decamped with cash and jewellery worth a few lakhs on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the girl was alone in the house.
It is learnt that the miscreant had come in the area with the purpose of stealing and while peeping through the window while walking along the footpath had found the girl alone in the room. The door that was left ajar also made his entry easy. The key that was attached to the almirah made his task more easy and he decamped with around Rs 1.2 lakh and cash worth Rs 40,000 . He then emptied the girl's school bag, put the looted items inside it and fled.
