B'deshi arrested for carrying fake passport

Kolkata: A Bangladeshi national was arrested from Kolkata Airport late night on Thursday on charges of carrying a fake passport.

Police said the accused Md Ballal is originally a resident of Satkhira district in Bangladesh. He was scheduled to take a flight to Dubai from Kolkata on Thursday night.

His behaviour while checking in at the airport led to suspicion. The on-duty officers took him aside and asked him to show some valid documents in support of his passport. But he failed to show any documents and later investigation revealed that he was carrying a passport with someone else's name.

He was later handed over to the policemen from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport Police Station.

It is learnt that the police are now trying to ascertain how the Bangladeshi national managed to get the fake passport. The police also asked why he was going to Dubai. The police are now trying to know that for how long he had been in Kolkata and who had helped him stay in the city. The police are trying to identify members of the fake passport racket who helped him get the fake passport.
