Basantotsav to be held at Rabindra Tirtha today

Kolkata: Rabindra Tirtha, a prime cultural centre in New Town, will organise Basantotsav on Thursday.
The celebration will start at 7 a.m. The programmes will be held in an open-air format. The dance drama will be presented by Daibat and choreographed by Debjit Mukherjee and Debapriya Roy. The music has been composed by Surajit Chakraborty.
There will be dance and Tagore songs to welcome spring. As the programme is held in an open-air format, the ambience replicates that of Santiniketan.
There has been great enthusiasm over the programme. Many people from Kolkata will go to Rabindra Tirtha to watch the programme. The programme with the theme 'Oh He Grihobashi' will be on the lines of Santiniketan.
New Town is coming up as a major cultural hub. Rabindra Tirtha was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It has an auditorium, a library and facilities where research scholars can work on Tagore.
Cultural programmes including cinema shows are regularly held at Nazrul Tirtha, another cultural centre at New town and the two centres attract several people from the city.
Some movies of Kolkata International Film Festival are also screened at Nazrul Tirtha. An exhibition on Jamini Roy held in 2017 had attracted many people.
