Acting on a tip-off, police conducted raids at the hideouts of the accused, who were arrested in connection with the clash. Police had been searching for the accused for the past few days. Based on specific information, police went to the hideout of the accused and finally arrested them.
It may be recalled that on January 18, a clash broke out between two groups in Basanti and it led to the death of two minors, including one Rakibul Mollah.
Trouble broke out following a heated altercation between the two groups. Soon, it took a worse turn when they engaged in a fight, following which they started firing at each other.
During the exchange of gunfire, the minors, who were passing through the area, had received the bullet injuries. Rakibul was declared brought dead when taken to a hospital. The other boy was admitted to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A large contingent of police was pressed into action at the spot, to bring the situation under control. Police pickets were posted in the area to ensure that the law and order situation doesn't deteriorate further. At the same time, police had also started a search for the accused, whose involvement in the clash came to light during preliminary investigation.
A police officer said that the arrest would help them to ascertain whether any more persons were involved.
