Bar owner Jagjit Singh's close aide lands in police net

Police arrested a bookie from his flat at Rajarhat on Tuesday in connection with a case of women trafficking in which the multi-millionaire bar owner Jagjit Singh is also involved.
Acting on a tip-off, policemen from Bidhannagar police commissionerate conducted a raid in the Rajarhat flat of the accused Vishnu Mundra. Police arrested him after they came to know that he was also involved in the racket of women trafficking that was allegedly being run by Jagjit.

Jagjit was arrested on March 19 from Delhi in connection with the brawl between two rival groups in his Shimmers Night Club at Salt Lake Sector V that brought to light that how such clubs and bars flout all norms to remain open till wee hours almost on all days of a week. The Electronic Complex police station had been probing into the incident of the fight in his night club.

Later, the police had tagged Jagjit, who is behind the bars, for another case under Baguiati police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of trafficking women. During further investigation, policemen came to know about Vishnu's involvement with Jagjit to allegedly run a racket of women trafficking.

Vishnu was arrested quite a number of times by both the Kolkata Police and Bidhannagar Police and police came to know after preliminary investigation that he was a frequent visitors to the bar situated alongside VIP Road.

A police officer said that he was closely linked with Jagjit and they have got several proofs of his involvement with the racket.

Jagjit is the main accused in this connection and people like Vishnu used to work as close aides to him. Police suspect that there are some more people who used to run cricket betting rackets with Vishnu and were also involved in the women trafficking racket. Thus, the police will interrogate Vishnu to get the whereabouts of the other accused persons.

Meanwhile, police arrested another person in connection with the fight in Shimmers Night Club on Monday. A police officer said that the accused Gourav Jaiswal was also closely associated with Jagjit. The police are looking into the allegations against him of taking money from Jagjit to help him run his bars flouting all norms.
