Bangladeshi nationals abducted for ransom

Kolkata: Two Bangladeshi national was allegedly abducted from the city and subsequently extorted a few days ago. After the accused persons were handed over Rs 6 lakh as ransom, the victims were set free.

According to sources, the victims, identified as Basir Mia and Iliyash of Faridpur in Bangladesh, came to Kolkata a few days ago to purchase gold jewellery. They run a business of garments in Bangladesh. On November 7, Mia and Iliyash met a person, identified as Salim, who also has a business in Bangladesh but often stayed somewhere in South 24-Parganas. Salim also ran a business of garments in Bangladesh.

Mia, Iliyash and Salim went to a mall near Sealdah railway station to have some snacks. There Mia once told Salim about his purpose of visit. After they had their food, Salim reportedly told Mia and Iliyash that he has some work at Guma in North 24 -Parganas and also asked the duo to come along. As Mia and Iliyash to his plan agreed.

Meanwhile, Salim got in touch with his associates who were outside of Guma railway station. After they reached Guma, Salim asked them to board the car.

As soon as Mia and Iliyash sat inside the car, a few miscreants tied them up.

They were taken to a house where Mia and Iliyash were held hostages.

On the next day, Mia was asked to call his father in Bangladesh and told to pay Rs 50 lakh as ransom.

When Mia refused accused persons allegedly beat them and also held them on gunpoint.

Having no other way, Mia called his father and asked him to pay the money. During negotiation, the ransom amount was decided at Rs 6 lakh. After the miscreants got the money, they handed Mia and Iliyash over to a person, who had the means to help people illegally cross the border.

But before handing him to that person, the accused took away Mia's wrist watch, which was worth more than Rs 5 lakh.

When the unknown person brought them to Guma railway station again to travel to the border, Mia reportedly threatened him that he would disclose the whole thing to the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the border. Sensing danger, the person fled and the duo boarded a train and reached Sealdah.

After that they lodged a complaint at the Entally police station. The police are searching for the accused persons.
