Bangladeshi national held for illegally intruding into Indian territory

Kolkata: Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national on charges of illegally intruding into Indian territory.
The investigators are, however, trying to ascertain the motive behind him entering into the country or if he was involved in any anti-national activities. Police said that the accused was trying to prepare a passport with some fake documents.
The accused has been identified as Sujay Das. According to the police, Das was originally a resident of Dobhata area in Sathkhira district in Bangladesh. The accused submitted some fake documents at the DIB office at Basirhat. The accused engaged some other persons to submit the fake documents as he was trying to get a passport. After examining the documents, the staff members of the DIB office came to know that the papers were fake and they started a probe in this regard. The matter was informed to the district police. On the basis of specific information, police started an enquiry and arrested the accused.
During the investigation, police came to know that the accused entered the country illegally from Bangladesh a few years ago and had been staying at Ghojadanga border. Later he changed his residence and started living at the house of one Anil Kumar Das at Bagundi area of Basirhat.
Police also came to know that the accused later started working under a local contactor. Police are investigating if working as a labourer under a local contactor was a mere eye wash or if he was involved in anti-national activities. Police said that the accused had also had a ration card. Police are investigating how he managed to get a ration card when he was an illegal intruder. The police are investigating if the accused was a part of any anti-national groups working from Bangladesh.
A senior police officer from North 24 Parganas did not want to divulge any information relating to the case for the sake of investigation. A probe is on.
