Baguiati cops rescue abducted bizman, 4 held

Kolkata: The Baguiati police station in less than 24 hours rescued an abducted businessman and arrested four accused including the driver of the vehicle in which the victim was kidnapped.
The victim Rohan Chatterjee lives at Kaikhali in Baguiati and originally hails from East College Para, Ranigunj in West Burdwan district.
According to police sources, one Shiekh Raja of Mandalghanti area in Kaikhali, who is a civic police, lodged a complaint to the effect that while he was performing his duty at Haldiram crossing, some people had informed him that a young person has been kidnapped by some unknown miscreants from a nearby place in an Innova car that was accompanied by another white car. He also informed the police of both the car numbers as told to him by the people of the area.
Accordingly, the Baguiati police took up the investigation and by tracking the CCTV footage identified the car and the owner of the Innova car. The sleuths managed to nab the driver. Pappu Koiri (30). from CIT road not too far away from his residence at Chowl Potty Road, Rail Colony in Beleghata.
The Innova Car was also recovered from the driver. The sleuths started grilling the driver and accordingly pursuing his statement arrested Sanjay Yadav from Sarkar Road in Beleghata, Samar Jana of Bagmari Road in Manikatala, Khageshwar Pani alias Pandey from Chanavi Khanna Road in Phoolbagan police station area.
Yadav originally hails from Aurangabad in Bihar while Pandey is a resident of village Sabaramga at Bhadrahin Andhra Pradesh.
The victim was recovered from the office of Samar Jana at Bagmari Lane, opposite of 3A Bus stand in Kankurgachi. Both the vehicles used for abduction was recovered.
"Prima facie we have learnt that the victim owed some money to the accused.
He was kidnapped for procuring money from him," a senior official of Bidhannagar Commissionerate said.
The sleuths are grilling the arrested persons to find out whether any more persons are involved in the act of abduction.
The police is also checking whether the group is involved in any other crime incidents previously.
