Asansol Durgapur Development Authority revamps Vivekananda Park

Kolkata: Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA) has renovated Vivekananda Park as a part of the celebration of 125 years of Swamiji's speeches at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.
The park has been renovated with the installation of LED lights at an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh. Swami Suviranandaji, general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, unveiled the plaque at a function on Saturday evening.
It may be mentioned that the state government has chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Swamiji's Chicago addresses. On September 11, Sanghati Divas will be observed and from September 12 to 19, Sanghati Week will be observed by the state government in all the district headquarters up to the Blocks. Schools and colleges will observe the great event by organising seminars, symposiums and workshops. The state government has also decided to include Swamiji's speeches in the school syllabus.
ADDA will install a fountain and lay coloured stones to beautify the park. It will beautify the surrounding area with better streetlight arrangements. It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed all the civic bodies to clean the areas under their jurisdiction and beautify them.
Tapas Banerjee, chairman, ADDA and Jitendra Tiwari, Mayor of Asansol Municipal Corporation (AMC) were present at the function.
