Arjun Singh resigns from post of MLA

Kolkata: Former Trinamool Congress legislator Arjun Singh who has recently joined BJP, resigned from his post of MLA on Friday. Singh tendered his resignation before the Speaker of the state legislative assembly Biman Banerjee.

Singh is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Barrackpore seat on BJP's ticket. He has been pitted against Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi and the poll will be held on May 6.

Singh has already been removed from his post of the chairman of Bhatpara Municipality on April 8, after a no-confidence motion was passed against him through secret ballot, where he lost 21-11.
