Application kit for Snehodiya rooms to be released today

Kolkata: State Urban Development & Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim will release the application kit for rooms for Snehodiya in New Town on Monday at Swapna Bhor.
The habitat for senior citizens that is coming up on an one acre plot will have 57 double bedrooms and 90 single bedrooms and will be located just opposite the community building of Swapno Bhor- the senior citizen's park.
The minister will also visit a sample demonstration room in the Snehodiya Complex. Sale of application kits will begin immediately thereafter from selected branches of a private bank.
Applications will be received till the end of May 2018. One has to be 55 years of age as on January 1, 2017 to be eligible.
Elaborating on the facilities that will be on offer, he added that the habitat will be professionally managed, offering lifestyle choice, 24x7 care for fitness and health.
The allottees can invite their family to stay in the adjoining guest house. They can get relief from home maintenance and enjoy maximum independence in life.
There are entertainment facilities, facilities to improve social interaction, security of life and free membership in Swapno Bhor located in the opposite side.
A senior official of Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), however, clarified that Snehodiya will not be an alternative for a hospital.. "We will have a medical board who will be checking the health condition of an elderly person before allotting the habitat. If a person is found to be having ailment of any serious nature, he will not be allotted rooms here," the official said.
The rooms will all be air conditioned and will be available at a rate of around Rs 25 lakh. However, there will be a refund of 75 percent of the amount when somebody leaves the room.
A rent of Rs 16,000 will be charged per month for services like attendant,
medical care, cook, ambulance services, laundry services, yoga-physiotherapy, reading, counselling, adda. The project is likely to be completed by December 2018.
