Amid seething controversy, Anupam campaigns with icon's lookalike

Kolkata: Despite several BJP supporters and workers were allegedly seen vandalising the Vidyasagar College in video clips, BJP candidate in Jadavpur constituency Anupam Hazra without bothering about the party's humiliation started campaigning with a man dressed up as Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

On Thursday, during Hazra's campaigning, which started from Jadavpur 8B bus terminus, a person dressed up as Vidyasagar was seen with him. Hazra said it was his style of protest against how Vidyasagar has been politicised by the TMC. Though in the video clips, BJP supporters and workers were seen vandalising Vidyasagar College, Hazra refused to believe that.

Leaders from various political parties said what BJP workers and supporters did on Tuesday, after that Hazra was just maligning Vidyasagar by using him during campaigning. But Hazra claimed the TMC was maligning Vidyasagar.

He claimed the BJP had nothing to do with the vandalism though several workers of the saffron party have been arrested after being identified from the video clips.
