All three arrested in Baguiati dacoity case
Kolkata: WhatsApp chat details led to the arrests of the miscreants who were involved in the Baguiati dacoity case.
It may be recalled that unidentified miscreants decamped with valuables including gold jewellery weighing 20 bhori after locking a housewife inside a toilet in an incident of dacoity at Baguiati on Sunday evening.
The woman, Swapna Kundu and her husband Kartik Kundu had lodged a complaint with the police in this connection.
The investigating officers initially were not getting any clue that would help them to arrest the miscreants.
Finally, they thought of going through the chat details on Kartik and his wife's mobile phones.
While going through the chat history on Swapna's mobile phone, investigating officers found that she had a conversation with a person, who tactfully managed to get information about their address during the chat.

On Tuesday night, police conducted a raid in Dum Dum area and first arrested Sanjib Das, alias Aakash, alias Naru.
After questioning him, police came to know about two others Prabhakar naiya and Subhasish Karmakar, alias Papai, who
were also arrested.
Police came to know that all three of them were involved in the dacoity and they went to carry out the operation by wearing helmets so that they dont get identified.
Since the woman had seen a photograph of one of them on WhatsApp, he was sure that he would get easily identified by her and that is the reason why they had covered their faces by helmets.
Police are trying to find out whether the trio had used the similar modus operandi to commit dacoity at any other place.
Police initiated interrogating all three of them and are trying to find out how they had managed to get the cell phone number of the woman. They would reconstruct the plot soon.
Cops are trying to find out how the miscreants had managed to flee without even a single person noticing them.
In this connection, police came to know that they did recce of the place earlier.
