All-fish restaurants to come up in 9 districts across state

Kolkata: Buoyed by the whopping sale at its temporary stalls that have been set up in various fairs across the state in the past one year, the State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) has now decided to expand by opening branches of its all-fish restaurant in nine districts across Bengal. Six of them will come up before Durga Puja this year.
"The Bengalees are known for their love for fish and people have thronged our stalls relishing the varieties. We had put up a stall at Poush Mela in Santiniketan in December 2017 and the response was overwhelming. So, we have decided to expand in a big way," said Soumyajit Das, managing director of SFDC.
It may be mentioned that SFDC has plans to start all-fish restaurant at Howrah, Hooghly, West and East Burdwan and Balurghat in North Bengal. Bolpur that happens to be the Assembly constituency of the state Fisheries minister Chandranath Sinha will also have a restaurant. "Our restaurant at New Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas is nearing completion," an SFDC official said.
It may be mentioned that SFDC presently has 11 restaurants of which seven are located in the city and its adjoining areas and four in popular tourist destinations including Digha, Henry's Island and Bishnupur. Recently, a restaurant has been started through a franchisee in Siliguri.
