All 23 districts to participate in city's Rasogolla Utsav

Kolkata: Representatives from all the 23 districts will participate in the Rasogolla Utsav that will be held in Kolkata to celebrate the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for "Banglar Rasogolla."
Sources said Chief Ministeir Mamata Banerjee may also be present in the utsav that is going to be held sometime after February. Though the exact date and venue of the programme is yet to be finalised, talks are on to finalise the same.
It was in November 2014 when the GI tag was awarded to Bengal after fight continued for the same between Bengal and Odisha.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was then in London had tweeted: "Sweet news for us all. We are very happy and proud that #Bengal has been granted GI status for Rosogolla."
It has been planned to organise the Rasogolla Utsav as a mark of Bengal's success in getting the GI tag for the same. Sources said if everything goes as planned then there will be separate stalls set up for each district. The unique feature of the utsav would be that no other sweets apart from rasogolla will be available there.
Every district will showcase different types and sizes of rasogollas. The main target would be to let visitors witness varieties of rasogolla with different flavours.
It may be recalled that soon after the GI tag for rasogolla, its sale had increased by around 25 percent. The sale is expected to increase further with the Rasogolla Utsav that is going to be held soon.
There will be at least one representative from each district.
Since it would be a celebration of Bengal's win in getting the GI tag, rasogolla will be distributed among all the visitors free of cost. It has been proposed that at least two rasogollas will be given to each when they visit the utsav venue. There will be a separate stall from where rasogollas will be distributed free of cost.
Hundreds of people are expected to visit the utsav and it will also promote different kinds of rosogollas.
