Alipurduar welcomes singing star back home
Alipurduar extended a warm welcome to Nilanjana Roy, a standard nine student of the Alipurduar Netajee Bidyapith High School, on Wednesday.
Miss Roy was adjudged the first runner-up in the all-India music reality show 'Voice India Kids' which was recently telecast on popular channel &TV.
The 14-year-old girl, who returned from Mumbai on Wednesday after successfully marking her name in the world of music, was welcomed by her fans at the Birpara Choupathi as she returned home with her family from the Bagdogra Airport.
"Hundreds of people, irrespective of caste, creed and age, gathered at the Birpara Choupathi and welcomed her, while she was taken around in an open-roof vehicle. The procession ended at her house at Bholardabri village near Alipurduar town. Hundreds of people including her school teachers, friends, villagers and fans were present there to welcome the young talent," sources said.
"We are proud that Nilanjana has become the first runner-up in the popular music talent show. Nilanjana is the Golden girl of our town. She has become an all India personality at the age of 14. We feel proud for her and that is why we have arranged the procession to welcome her," said an organizer of the procession, Babun Das.
"The melody of her sweet voice has won the hearts of the people, irrespective of age. The Golden girl was welcomed in a befitting manner," said another well wisher, Prakash Mandal.
"I thank everybody for such a warm welcome. People of Alipurduar had wished for my success. The love and support the people have given me is unforgettable," said the young singer.
"I will been appearing in the Madhayamik examinations next year. Now it is time for me to be busy with my studies. Everbody should pray for my success," she added.
Nilanjana's parents, who are teachers by profession, are elated at the success of their daughter.
