Air India observes 'Green Week' to mark World Environment Day

Kolkata: Air India, Kolkata, celebrated World Environment Day with a series of initiatives throughout the Green Week observed from June 3 to 7.

The programme was observed by the national carrier everywhere in the network with the theme of 'Beat Air Pollution' and saving every drop of fuel.

Regional Director Eastern Region Caption Rohit Bhasin, GM Personnel Navneet Sidhu and senior AGM Flight Safety Caption Nandita Halder led a bunch of enthusiastic employees to launch a series of interactive events involving passengers and its own employees.

Passengers alighting from select Air India flights were in for a pleasant surprise when a sapling with their respective names tagged on to it started doing the rounds in the baggage carousel before their checked in baggage came at the Kolkata airport.

Passengers appreciated the way the airline involved them in its green mission and thanked the airline for this unique initiative.

A competition to highlight the creative spark amongst employees was organised on the theme of environment awareness. A slogan competition was also held on the occasion.

Employees were honoured for showcasing their ideas and creativity. An interactive discourse by eminent environmentalist Sanghamitra Mukherjee was held which was attended by enthusiastic employees.
