Air hostess molested by landlord; parents assaulted by his wife

Kolkata: An air hostess working with a private airline is planning to take the legal path alleging molestation and intimidation on the part of the owner of the house in which she has been living in rent with her parents.
The air hostess has alleged in her complaint that the owner of the house had molested her while the latter in connivance with his wife had also assaulted her parents when they protested against the act.
On Tuesday, the victim met Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Gyanwant Singh who assured her of every support.
Police sources informed that the air hostess has also alleged in her complaint that the Bidhannagar North Police station has been sitting idle on her complaint of molestation that she had lodged on the night of Saptami, when the molestation took place.
The complainant lives on rent with his parents at CB 116 in Salt Lake. She went to Bidhannagar Court and discussed with a lawyer on how to go forward with the case.
The complainant alleged when she returned home on Saptami night and knocked on the door, the owner of the house Narayan Chandra Roy took a lot of time in opening it. "When he asked me about the delay, I informed him of the work pressure. Suddenly, he pushed me to the wall and pinning my hands against the wall he touched my body and even put his hands under my shirt. When I protested and my parents came to my rescue, my mother was heckled by his wife and we were abused in filthy language," the victim said.
She also added that Roy threatened her of dire consequences if she sought police intervention.
However, the victim did not yield to the intimidation and approached Bidhannagar North Police station to lodge a complaint. The duty officer allegedly refused to register her complaint and told her to come the next day.
However, after much deliberation, the complaint was registered but the victim was not given any copy of the complaint. "16 days have gone by and there has been no action. The intimidations are continuing. I informed the matter to Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Gyanwant Singh who has assured me of action,"
she said. According to the complainant, Roy's wife Pushpa has told the family that they have good political connection and they will be put behind bars through false case of attempting to take possession of the house. The complainant said that she would wait for a few more days and if no action is taken she will move court. On June 13, an air hostess was molested in a moving taxi on the way to Kolkata Airport. Police arrested the taxi driver on Thursday morning while another accused is still at large. Police said the air-hostess had boarded the shuttle taxi from Kaikhali on VIP Road. There was another passenger sitting in the rear seat of the taxi when the air-hostess boarded the vehicle. As the ride wore on, the co passenger initially started passing lewd comments at her and subsequently molested her.
Instead of protesting against the incident, the taxi driver allegedly extended support to the prime accused. He even did not even stop the vehicle. She told the police that she had repeatedly asked the driver, Uday Kumar, to stop the car but he did not pay heed to her complains and continued driving the taxi.
The prime accused had boarded the taxi from near Baguiati Joramandir and he got down somewhere at VIP Road when the driver slowed down the vehicle. The air hostess found no other way apart from going to the airport in the same taxi. The driver somehow managed to flee soon after dropping her at the airport. The air hostess went to the security personnel present at the airport and narrated the entire incident to them but before they managed to get hold of the vehicle, he fled the spot. The victim later went to the NSCBI police station and lodged a complaint with the police. The security personnel noted down the registration number of the taxi and gave it to the police.
The police arrested the taxi driver.
