Kolkata: The preliminary report of the post-mortem of the 23-year-old air hostess confirmed that she died after falling from a height.
A police officer confirmed that their suspicion has turned to be true as they had suspected that she died after falling from the window of her flat situated in the third floor of an apartment at Kestopur.
The body of the victim Khongsit Clara Bansha Rai, who was originally a resident of Shillong, was found in front of her residence at Kestopur at around 4 am on Wednesday.
Police had initiated a probe and questioned two of her friends who were present in the flat of the victim when the incident took place.
The investigating officers were waiting for the preliminary post-mortem report which on Thursday confirmed that the death was due to "fall from height" and alcohol was found in Clara's stomach.
Now, the police are trying to ascertain that whether Clara was pushed or she fell accidentally from the window. There was no grille in the window and the windowpanes were also found to be open
when the police went to the spot after receiving information that Clara was lying in a pool of blood on the road in front of her house in the wee hours of Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the police had questioned the friends of Clara, one of whose birthday party was celebrated in the victim's flat that night. Sources said that on Thursday, too, the police questioned them to get more information. They were asked to narrate what had happened since the time they were in the victim's flat.
The police also wanted to know whether they had found Clara depressed or there was any sign of depression on her face or if they had seen anything suspicious in her behaviour.
The police also asked them that what they were doing when Clara fell from the window. It is learnt that the duo told the police that they had fallen asleep when the incident took place.
The police also spoke to the forensic experts who had collected samples from the spot to know if there was any foul play behind the incident or Clara had accidentally fallen down from the window.
The police also spoke to the victim's family members, who came to collect the body on Thursday. The victim's family members took the body to Shillong where the last rites were performed.
