Agitating students of Agriculture University demand V-C's resignation

Kolkata: The students of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV) started fresh agitation on the college campus on Thursday night demanding resignation of Vice-Chancellor Dharani Dhar Patra.

"We will continue our agitation till the V-C resigns," said a leader of the students, who formed an organisation named 'Chalo Paltai' (Let's make a change). The move comes inspite of the V-C ordering a high-level probe into the incident of some outsiders ransacking the administrative building of the varsity on Wednesday night allegedly in an attempt to lift the agitation of the students. "The V-C would have to be on leave till the committee submits its report. Such incidents could not have happened without his knowledge," an agitating student said. A section of the teachers also held a meeting supporting the demand of the students. The agitating students have been demonstrating since September 7 demanding removal of Dean (Agriculture) Srikanth Das and Dean Students Welfare Goutam Chakraborty.
