After Prosenjit, ED summons Rituparna over Rose Valley case probe

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned actor Rituparna Sengupta to depose before the investigating agency next week, in connection with investigation of the Rose Valley scam.

Sources said that ED sleuths will question the national award-winning actor over allegations of using money from the group for her foreign visit.

According to ED sources, Sengupta has been found to be present in a number of programmes held by the Rose Valley Group. She had acted in two films under the production banner of the group as well.

The summon has been sent to the actor in the name of an event management company, with which she is associated. The actor is out of the country at present, in connection with the shooting of a film.

According to sources, a few days ago ED sleuths had interrogated Rose Valley chief Gautam Kundu again in judicial custody. During the questioning, they acquired information regarding Sengupta's connection with Kundu.

ED has already summoned actor Prosenjit Chatterjee to depose before them on July 19.

According to ED officials, the Rose Valley ponzi scheme scam run by the group's chairman Gautam Kundu was unearthed in 2013. The group had allegedly floated 27 companies to run various schemes. It allegedly collected Rs 17,520 crore from depositors in Bengal, Assam and Bihar.

The ED, which is investigating the scam along with the CBI, has attached assets including resorts, hotels and land worth Rs 2,300 crore and recovered incriminating documents, gold ornaments and precious stones worth Rs 40 crore during searches at showrooms of a jewellery house, in connection with the scam.
