After carcass meat, rotten fish found in Budge Budge

Kolkata: A team from Budge Budge municipality has stumbled upon a huge quantities of stale fish stocked in two refrigerators inside a godown at the backside of Natun Bazar area under ward number 1 in Budge Budge on Thursday morning.
Nearly 40 kg of stale fish was seized from the godown that seemingly appeared to be of inferior quality emanating a foul smell and insects making a feast of the stuff.
"We have been conducting raids to ensure quality of meat and food for quite sometime. This morning, while we were undertaking a drive at Natunbazar, we were told by a fish seller that they there is a godown at the back side of the bazaar where fish is preserved. When we went to the godown and checked the two refrigerators, we found stale fish stored in them. There was also some quantity of meat stored inside and the entire stuff was found to be stale with foul smell," said Phulu Dey, chairman of Budge Budge Municipality.
A person named Akbar, who owned the godown, has been detained by Budge Budge police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Dey.
On the basis of information provided by Akbar, the team from the civic body also raided a hotel located in Charial area of Budge Budge, where fish was supplied
from the godown.
The quality of fish and meat in the hotel was also found to be of inferior quality. "We have sealed the two refrigerators in the godown as well as the hotel," Dey added.
The entire quantity of seized fish and meat has been dumped at a proper place in a scientific manner.
"Akbar had told us that the fish was meant to be supplied for a wedding," Dey said.
It may be mentioned that it was from Budge Budge where the carcass meat had racket had originated.
