After the death of the girl on last Wednesday, the body was handed over to the mother who had admitted her there. After the incident, the baby's father, Ramchandra Bhadra lodged a complaint with Patuli police station demanding the body's post-mortem.
The post-mortem was done on the baby on Saturday after which the father has agreed to handover the body to her mother so that the latter can perform her last rites.
A police officer said that the couple had filed for divorce and the matter is pending. They have been staying separately for more than two years.
The father of the baby lodged a complaint with the police demanding a post-mortem. Ramchandra Bhadra married Debjani in 2013. Debjani later moved court seeking a divorce in 2014. She was expecting at that time. Later, she gave birth to a baby girl in July 2015.
The father said that he desired that post-mortem should be performed on the baby as he wanted to know the real reason behind the death of his daughter.
Now, he has allowed the biological mother of the baby to perform her last rites as he did not want to complicate the issue further.
It would take some more time to receive the pathological autopsy report and he did not want to further complicate the issue, the father told the media.
