Acid attack victim succumbs to injuries in Nadia

Kolkata: A housewife from Nadia's Nakashipara, who had fallen victim to an acid attack a month ago, succumbed to her injuries at a district hospital on Friday. The battle for life which continued nearly a month came to an end for the woman. She was hurled acid by a woman of the same locality, who is found to be the former wife of the victim's husband. Police said the victim, a resident of Senpur area under Nakashipara police station was walking along the side of a road with her husband when the accused hurled acid on the couple. The victim's husband suffered burn injuries on his body but survived after receiving treatment at Shaktinagar district hospital. The victim was undergoing treatment at the same hospital for nearly a month and had suffered more than eighty percent burn injuries. After starting an investigation, the district police have arrested the accused woman who was involved in the incident. Police came to know from the investigation that the victim's husband had earlier married the accused and later left her following some quarrel.
