67-year-old dies under mysterious circumstances in Behala

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of an elderly woman at Fakirpara Road in Behala Parnasree whose body was recovered from her room with blood oozing out from her nose and ears.
Police informed that 67-year-old Sipra Bhattacharjee used to live in the first floor with her daughter and son-in-law residing at the ground floor of the same house.
The locals alleged that the sexagenarian's son-in-law Anupam and her daughter Kaveri have been living in Parnasree address for the past eight years. "They would often quarrel with the lady pressing her for legal handover of the house in their name. The duo would also inflict mental and physical torture on the victim," Soma Bhattacharjee, a neighbour said.
Another local resident said that the elderly woman would sometimes say "Please save me." However, she would never take the name of her daughter and son-in-law. However, after the death of her husband a year back she would remain on her own and would hardly talk with anyone. The victim's daughter, however, denied allegations of torture and said the lady used to live on her own.
"When she didn't open the door this (Saturday) morning, we called upon the locals who broke open the door that was bolted from inside," Kaberi said. "We are not too sure of the reason behind the woman's death. We are interrogating her daughter and son-in-law," an investigating officer said.
