50-year-old man molests 2-year-old girl, arrested

Kolkata: In another incident of molestation, a 2-year-old girl was physically assaulted by a 50-year-old man at Haridevpur on the Southern fringes of the city on Thursday morning.

The incident triggered tension in the area after locals attacked the man on hearing the incident. The accused has been identified as Govinda Mahato, who is a resident of the same area and was later handed over to the police.

The family members of the victim and locals informed that Mahato works in a godown in the area.

On Thursday morning, he lured the girl with fake promises, took her inside the godown and allegedly assaulted that minor.

The child was in a traumatised state when she came out of the godown. She broke in tears when her family members asked her about the incident.

The victim shared her harrowing experience on how she was tortured by the man.

Some of the locals also became infuriated at the incident and searched the accused frantically.

When Mahato came out of his house, locals and the victim's family members intercepted and beat him up badly. He received injuries on his body.

After being informed, police reached the spot and arrested him on charges of molesting the minor. Police have started a detailed probe in this regard. They are interrogating the victim girl and her family members in this regard.
