5 arrested in TMC faction clash

Kolkata: At least five persons were injured in a clash that broke out between two factions of the ruling Trinamool Congress at Birbhum's Nanoor late Monday night.
The incident triggered tension in the Chandipur village. It has been learnt that the trouble broke out when a member belonging to one faction of the Trinamool Congress joined a rally organised by the rival group.
The members of the faction the youth originally belonged to, attacked him for taking part in the rally taken out by the opponent group. His house was also torched by them. As a result of this, the other group members came to his rescue and a clash broke out between the two factions.
Both group members allegedly hurled bombs at each other and houses were set on fire during the clash.
Around five members from both the groups have been injured.
They were admitted to Bolpur Sub-Divisional hospital.
Senior district police officers rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
A police picket was set up to check the spread of violence in the village. Police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection so far.
