48-year-old man dies after failing to board running bus

Kolkata: A 48-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Krishnagar when he fell while getting on to a bus on Wednesday morning. The incident took place when he went to bring his son back home, who got a bail on Wednesday after spending 14 days in judicial custody.

His son was arrested on alleged charges of torturing his wife.

Police said the victim, Lutfor Biswas, was a resident of Chapra in Nadia. He went to Krishnagar on Wednesday morning to bring back his son.

Police came to know from people, who witnessed the incident, that the man slipped when he was getting onto a bus enroute Chapragami.

He received severe injuries on his head and became senseless.

Locals informed police. Policemen from local police station went to the spot and took him to Shaktinagar District Hospital. He was declared brought dead when taken to the hospital. Police sent the body for an autopsy.

A police officer said the bus was parked and many other people got in the bus before the victim.

Police, however, couldn't ascertain how he fell down from the bus.

Locals told the police it seemed that the man was in a hurry to get in the bus, thinking that it would leave the place and slipped after failing to maintain his balance.

Police also spoke to the victim's son in this connection.
