4 killed, 3 injured in 2 separate accidents

KOLKATA: Four persons have been killed and three have been injured in two separate road accidents in the state.
The first incident took place at Balurghat in South Dinajpur on Tuesday night.
According to police, four persons including three teenagers were returning home in a car after attending a programme at a relative's house. Teenagers were from the same family.
When passing the Chingispur area of Balurghat, the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a road side tree. The driver suffered critical injuries and has been undergoing treatment in Balurghat Hospital.
The victims are Milan Mahato (18), Prasenjit Mahato (18), Bhaskar Mahato (19) and Bagala Murmu. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that poor visibility in the area might have led to the incident.
The incident took place at around 11 pm on Tuesday. Police said the impact of the accident was so high that the car was completely wrecked and suspect that the accident might have taken place due to fog. They are investigating if there was any other reason behind the accident.
Locals rushed to the spot after hearing a loud sound. They rescued all five of them including the driver.
They were rushed to Balurghat district hospital where the teenagers were declared brought dead. Police have started a probe in this regard.
Circumstantial evidence suggests that the vehicle was running at a high speed when it met with the accident. Police informed that the vehicle was going to Chingispur from Kamarpara when the accident took place.
In another incident, three persons were injured when a speeding minibus hit them near Shyambazar five point crossing.
One of the victims, who sustained critical injuries in the incident has been identified as Bapi Ghosh.
