39 l of alcohol, govt files seized from properties of Bharati

Kolkata: The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recovered a number of government files and documents of Paschim Medinipur district, from different properties belonging to former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh and some of her close relatives. The raids have been continuing for the last two days.
A senior CID official said that the seizures include a large number of Arms Licence applications, a large number of Verification Rolls of different candidates applying for employment, etc.
"57 sealed bottles of alcoholic drinks were also seized, totalling 39 litres," a CID official said, adding that the state Excise department will be intimated about the alcohol seizure. The alcohol bottles are all of leading brands.
"All searches and seizures were done in strict observance of law. Extensive videography was conducted. All CID personnel subjected themselves to personal search of themselves by others, before entering," Nishat Parvez, DIG, CID (Operations) said.
CID officials said that the searches will continue in the next few days. It may be mentioned that different CID teams have been prepositioned in different parts of India as part of the search operation.
Searches were conducted on Wednesday and Thursday in different properties, admitted to be belonging to a retired IPS officer.
It may be mentioned that Ghosh's husband didn't turn up at the CID headquarters on Wednesday, citing health issues. He was summoned by the investigating agency for questioning in connection with the Daspur case.
